Guest Post: Morgan Lee’s Favorite Things

We’re so excited to have Morgan Lee as a guest blogger on After the Last Page!  The blog tour for her new book, The Naked Tree, starts today and we’re one of her stops!

About The Naked Tree:

untitledColette has lived the last seventeen years of her life being hidden away, also choosing to hide herself. Colette is a part of a class of people who are even lower than the animals they herd. They are Vaporless. Defects in a perfect world. And Colette was the worse one of them. After the vicious leaders, Eviya, Levi and Adamek of the Triunity put out a bounty for the blood of the Vaporless no one is safe. Disaster has struck. The Tree of Knowl is failing and the once beautiful Vapors are now killing their hosts. A solution must be found and that solution is to sacrifice the Vaporless to the Tree in an effort to appease it so that it will reverse the curse it placed.

Now on the run, Colette meets Rowan and Holden leaders of a well known rebellion group who call themselves R.H.I.S.K. With the help of Rowan, Holden, Anastasia, Kofi, and Kimaya, Colette hatches a plan to discover a way to save themselves and the Vaporless from destruction. When the group enters into the Province Ilan they find themselves the knights of an ancient war. A risky mission over the Edge. A mysterious device called the Eloi. And a war that will shake the very foundation that they have known.

And the story all starts with a single naked tree.

Jump below the cut for Morgan’s Top 5 Lists!

Greetings everyone! I am so honored to be hosted on After the Last Page and beyond excited to kick off this blog tour for the release of The Naked Tree. Since I am a new, unknown author and this is the first stop on the tour, I thought my guest post today should be a little about me. Here are several Top 5 Lists of several my favorite things, things that you probably had no desire to know.

Top 5 “Addictions”

  1. Good Mythical Morning

My main addiction. If you don’t know what Good Mythical Morning is, you really should. YouTube. Check it out. I have spent the last five months’ binge watching it’s 900+ episodes.

  1. Buying notebooks and pens

All office supplies really. Do I really need to explain this one? I’m a writer. Office supplies are life. I can never have enough.

  1. Playing in the park

Swinging on my swing in the park is where I get all of my inspiration. Whenever I am stuck on a scene I go to the park, and act out the part that I am stuck on. If you’re a writer, I highly recommend it. It helps.

  1. Reading multiple books at once

Those multiple books usually end up being only half finished. Don’t hate me.

  1. Quoting the lines to my favorite movies.

“The difference between Cal’s taste in art and mine is that I have some.” –Rose, Titanic.

Top 5 Yum! Foods When Becoming Vegan

Due to health issues, I have recently started my (very slow) transition into being vegan. It’s a lot easier than I thought, but I have always been a picky eater so my palette has had to discover a lot of new tastes.

  1. Avocado
  2. Sweet potatoes
  3. Quinoa
  4. Kale
  5. Vegan “meat”

Top 5 Banned Books

Books are banned for silly reasons. Freedom of speech! Don’t ban books! All of these books have been banned at one time or another for some silly reason, so here are my favorites. You should pick one of these up if you haven’t read them.

  1. Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling

I had to include my favorite series ever! I love this series, ‘nough said.

  1. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
  2. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
  3. The Giver by Lois Lowry
  4. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

“Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.”

Top 5 Shakespeare plays

Shakespeare is tons of fun to read. If you couldn’t tell by my list of addictions, I like quoting things and acting things out and talking in random “bad” accents; Shakespeare lets me do all of those things. J

  1. Othello
  2. A Midsummer Night’s Dream
  3. Hamlet
  4. Love’s Labour’s Lost
  5. Romeo and Juliet

Top 5 Life Goals

Everyone has to have a goal, so dream big!

  1. To make a living with my writing
  2. Go on a Missions Trip with my church
  3. To Travel the world (Australia is stop #1)

I will climb Ayers Rock one day. I have had this desire since I was 13 years old. (I’m 26)

  1. Get married & have identical twin boys
  2. Scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef

Top 5 Anime

  1. Sailor Moon
  2. Inuyasha
  3. Tenchi Muyo
  4. Trigun
  5. Dragon Ball Z

Top 5 Reasons I love Reading/Writing

  1. You are allowed to escape

Life gets you down sometimes and it gets hard to deal with. Reading and writing both give the opportunity to go somewhere else and be someone else entirely.

  1. You get to use your imagination

Generally speaking, I don’t like television. Yes, I watch it and there are shows I’m addicted to, but reading stimulates a whole different part of my brain. I get to create a picture in my head! How cool is that, guys? I don’t have to tell you. You all know how awesome reading is.

  1. You can be anything you want to be

The previous two points cover this already, but with both reading and writing I don’t have to be me, I get to experience another person’s life whether they’re a serial killer or a wizard.

  1. Your thinking is challenged

I encourage everyone to read diversely, because you will look at the world in a whole new way. Reading deepens your perspective.

  1. You can do it alone or experience it with others

I’m an introvert. I’m not afraid to admit it, so I like to be alone for the majority of the time. Reading is the perfect activity. But you can also experience a book with other people. Think Harry Potter midnight release parties; some of the most exciting group book lover gathering times of my life.

Top 5 Random Facts of The Naked Tree

  1. The Naked Tree is my first science fiction novel, but my second published novel.
  2. The Naked Tree was a Camp Nanowrimo project.
  3. This novel is the first published under my own imprint, Redeemer’s Ink Publishing.
  4. The Naked Tree takes place in an alternate reality following the “Fall of Man” at the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden.
  5. I took inspiration from several different stories and molded them into one fantastic book that you should definitely check out!

So there you have it! Hopefully you have learned a little more about me and my novel The Naked Tree! Thanks for hanging with me today, I hope to see you the rest of the week.
