MORTAL INSTRUMENTS TRAILER: Exclusive sneak peak from MTV

The trailer for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has been released!

MTV.com has a sneak peak… take a look and see what you think!

I have to admit, I’m not thrilled. It looks like a decent movie, and I’ll probably go see it anyway. But it’s nothing like how I hoped it would be. I know that no adaptation is ever going to be what we hope (except for maybe The Hunger Games and Perks of Being a Wallflower), but, in my humble opinion, it doesn’t seem to be a good representation of The Mortal Instruments book series. And no offense, Jamie Campbell Bower. I like you as an actor just fine. But you are not, and will not EVER be Jace Wayland! But I’ll save any official judgements for when the movie actually comes out. We’ve got a looooong way to go, after all.

If you’re totally diggin’ the MI trailer, and want to know a little more, go check out Hollywood Crush’s 5 Things You May Have Missed.

So, more importantly, what do YOU think? I’m curious to hear what you all have to say. Sound off in the comments… do you think it looks good? And will you go see it when it comes out in August 2013?

I think I’ll be able to get passed my Jace hate for JCB, because there is one moment in the trailer (when he walks passed the coffee shop window) where I was like “Okay, I can see that being Jace.” But the accents!! No. Why did try give them all accents?! It’s going to drive me insane. I’m sure I’ll get over that too eventually, but it annoys me, because even if they gave Jace and accent, why does Alec have one? He’s from New York? Has always lived in New York. Anyway, I’m sure it’ll be a decent movie, but does anyone actually see this turning into a franchise? Because I really don’t. I think it just comes off way too fantasy-ish to attract the attention of non-readers.

THANK GOD I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HEARD THE ACCENT. I thought I was going crazy! That bothered me, too — they certainly were NOT supposed to have accents. I agree with your thought about it being a franchise… I think readers/lovers of the series will go see it as diehard, supportive fans. But I don’t know if it will continue to appeal to anyone unfamiliar with the series.
