Veronica Roth’s Divergent: The newest YA bestseller to hit the big screen

We’ve got another one folks.

Nothing is final yet (is anything ever when it comes to making movies?), but word is out on plans to make Divergent into a major motion picture. I won’t lie: I’m doing a dance of joy right now. Normally I am totally anti-turning books into movies, but I am totally on board with this one. I think it would be a lot of fun to see the world of Divergent brought to life, and not just because of my book-crush on Four (I will be VERY upset if they cast that one wrong!)

Ms. Roth? Can I read Insurgent? Like, now-ish?

Divergent takes place in dystopian-Chicago where teens must choose which “faction” (or societal grouping) they want to be a part of when they turn 16. The story follows Tris, a newly turned 16-year-old whose decision shocks everyone, including herself. After she decides, she must adjust to her new life in her new faction and, in doing so, uncovers some seriously dark funny business involving the leaders of the other factions.

Evan Daugherty, screenwriter of “Snow White and the Huntsmen”, has been hired to write the screenplay.  It has a projected release date of 2015. Now we all get to speculate who will play Tris, Four, and the rest of the gang! I’ll keep ya’ll posted (most likely with LIES if IMDB is to be trusted, but it’s still fun to be on alert for potential cast members). My mind is already working overtime to try to imagine which pair of actors would make a swoony Four and a kickass Tris.
