No little ol’ hurricane is keeping us down!

I write to you from a hidden bunker safe from the torrential rains, fierce winds, and rushing flood waters of Hurricane Irene… Ok. Not really. But the rain is a-pourin’ and the wind is a-howlin’.

We made it to Bring YA to PA (a.k.a. PAYA) in West Chester, PA despite Tropical Storm Warnings… and WE OWNED IT.

It was a great day and we were able to walk away with lots of amazing (free!) books, great swag, and a handful of autographed titles. We rubbed elbows with Cyn Balog (Fairy Tale, Sleepless, Starstruck), Josh Berk (The Dark Days of Hamburger Halpin), Shannon Delany (13 to Life series), Charlotte Bennardo and Natalie Zaman (Sirenz), Alissa Grosso (Popular), Scott Tracey (Witch Eyes), April Lindner (Jane), Leah Clifford (A Touch Mortal), Beth Kephart (The Heart is Not a Size, Nothing But Ghosts), Susan Shaw (The Boy in the Basement, Safe, Tunnel Vision), and a handful of others. Unfortunately, not everyone could make it due to the hurricane (Wow. I don’t get to say those words very often…).

We got to choose which books we wanted to purchase, and we were off to the autographing tables! The authors signed in shifts, so they came and went depending on which hourly interval they were scheduled for. There was a special area for librarians to grab free books for their libraries, and a basket raffle (Asterisks managed to get picked for TWO prizes… I was jealous). I would say the day was a great success for organizers, authors, and attendees alike. We all had fun and got to chat and make connections with a lot of local authors, bloggers, and librarians.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I know I’m ready to do it again next year!
